WHY ITALY?
Planning an abroad wedding was never likely to be easy and planning one in South Africa in the midst of a global pandemic proved beyond us...
Nevertheless after having to cancel one abroad wedding we had no hesitation in booking another!
Lake Bracciano was the first place we visited outside of the UK after the onset of Covid and immediately upon arrival it rekindled our passion for international travel. We fell in love with Italy and cannot wait to have a 4 day holiday with you all in such a beautiful place.
After 874 days of waiting (!) we hope to see you down the aisle Italiano Style!

FLIGHTS & DOMESTIC TRANSPORT
There are 2 airports in Rome you can fly into from the U.K, Ciampino (CIA) and Fiumicino (FIO). Both are approximately 1 hour from Lake Bracciano by car.
Multiple carriers offer flights from all of the London airports into Rome.
If you choose to do a holiday in Italy before /after the wedding then of course it is it possible to fly into or out of many other Italian airports from the UK and use domestic transport to get to Lake Bracciano.
To get to Lake Bracciano from Rome airport we recommend either getting a taxi or hiring a car. It is also possible to get to the Lake from Rome by train, but with this option it is likely you would then need to get a taxi from the station to your accommodation anyway.
Once at the lake it is convenient but certainly not essential to have a car. If staying central in Trevignano you will easily be able to walk to cafe's / restaurants etc and will be able to get to all the wedding events by walking or by using a taxi (n.b. chartered buses will provide transport to/from the wedding).
Early flight booking is advised due to it being half term and a long UK bank holiday weekend.

ACCOMMODATION
For the week of the wedding we will be staying in Trevignano.
For ease of transport to/from not only the wedding but also the welcome drinks and Sunday BBQ we advise guests to also stay in either Trevignano or Anguillara Sabazia. Both of these towns are on the lake and in close proximity to all wedding events (note Bracciano is the other town directly on the lake but is further from the venue so we do not advise you stay here without a car).

Early booking is advised. Thursday 2 June is an Italian bank holiday and the Lake itself is a popular summer tourist spot for Romans so we expect accommodation to get snapped up quickly.

LAKE ACTIVITIES & ITALY INFO
The main places of interest on Lake Bracciano are Bracciano village, Anguillara Sabazia and Trevignano Romano.
The best things to do on lake Bracciano are:
swimming, boating, kayaking
exploring the pretty villages on its shores
Touring the lake’s towns on a boat (the only motorboat allowed on Lake Bracciano is the ferry boat that goes from town to town)
visit Castello Corsini-Odescalchi
enjoy the beach in Anguillara Sabazia and Vigna di Valle
Rome is also nearby should you want to spend some time exploring the capital city, you can even get a train directly from Bracciano to Vatican city!
Of course Italy is a fantastic country if you want to extend your holiday and go further afield than Rome and Lake Bracciano!
FAQS
Covid Rules: At the time of writing; fully vaccinated travellers are no longer required to supply a negative COVID test to enter Italy.
That means if you're fully jabbed, you can present either proof of vaccination status of a certificate of recovery from COVID-19 within the past six months.
Unvaccinated visitors can also enter Italy and are no longer required to quarantine. But they will need to produce proof of recovery from COVID within the last 180 days or a negative COVID test.
Regardless of vaccination status, all passengers must fill in a Passenger Locator Form.
Whilst in Italy you will not be required to show proof of vaccination or wear a face mask in either indoor or outdoor venues from 1 May.
